San Francisco Here We Come, YAY!
Yep, my cute little family leave for San Francisco tomorrow for our "big" summer vacation. I'm so excited! However, this is our first very long drive with the kids so I might be singing a different tune later. That said, suggestions for a fun-smooth drive are welcomed.
Oh, other than the obvious, Golden Gate Bridge/Alcatraz/Lombard St., know of other attractions that we should visit?
Bummer that I get nauseous while reading in motion or I'd get a lot of reading done! Maybe I'll try Playaway digital audio ...just don't know how well it'll work with kids' DVD movie noise in the back and hubby's radio at the front. Perhaps I can get the kids to wear headsets/earphones.
Let me know if you join this meme so I'll be sure to swing by ..or you can leave your six words in the comment. :)
How exciting! Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThanks. We sure did! Just bummed that Alcatraz was sold out til 8/14! Who knew?
DeleteFun! Make sure you go to Ghiradelli Square! And Alcatraz is cool. Jason and I went there on our honeymoon and there was a former prisoner there that day signing his book (yes, over the years, I found that to be weird but didn't think too much about it at the time--he seemed like a nice old man, not a dangerous criminal).
ReplyDeleteWe got to Ghiradelli Square but Alcatraz was sold out til 8/14! I was floored & we were super bummed!! --Interesting experience with the book signing.
DeleteGood luck with the drive...but if your kids are like mine, they should do just fine as long as they DVD's are plentiful, lol :) Hope you have a lovely vacay!
ReplyDeleteThanks. You're right. They did wonderfully with the DVDs ...just one n/v incident on the way home.
DeleteEncourage them to read, if they can handle it, and play the License Plate game. I hope you have a good trip.
ReplyDeleteMy 6ws is here: http://mlissabeth.wordpress.com/2013/07/20/six-word-saturday-720/
Thanks!
DeleteThe License Plate game: On the drive, you look on the other cars' licence plates to see how many different states you can find. To make it more challenging, make it a competition to see how many different states each child can be the first to see.
ReplyDeleteThanks for clarifying. We didn't get to play this one but 'what do you see in the clouds' one instead.
DeleteI also get nauseous when trying to read while in motion hope you have a bloody great time away I would love to visit San Francisco
ReplyDeleteIt was great! I would have loved to have done more but my hubby's not the adventurous-people crowd person so it was more cozy family fun ..which was fabulous too!
DeleteDon't forget Martinelli's chocolate factory.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to Google this one during the trip. I didn't know the cider company did chocolates. --Googled it now and couldn't find it ..did you mean Ghiradelli?
