Author-Book Profile with Interview

[Helping authors promote their books.  Being profiled does not necessarily mean I recommend the book.]

Welcome Theodore Ficklestein, author of newly published book, This Book Needs A Title.

Find Book:  Amazon | AuthorHouse | Barnes and Noble

What is This Book Needs A Title about? You ask. Poetry. But when was the last time poetry was about anything really?

Find Author: Website

This Book Needs A Title is Theodore's first book. Of all the genres he chose poetry. Which in hindsight may not have been the best decision. But hey hindsight is 20/20. Too bad foresight isn't.

What was the hardest part about writing this book?
Editing. Definitely editing.

What has been the best part about writing this book?
Finishing it.

Do you have a specific writing style?
Ironic humor.

Do you see writing as a career?
I would hope so.

Is there any particular writer that influenced you?
Comedians are a big influence to me. Like George Carlin and Jerry Seinfeld. They looked at the world differently than the norm and I try to do the same in my writing

Do you experience writer’s block? If so, what do you do?
No not really. If I feel frustrated with my writing I get away from it for awhile to clear my head.

How did you come up with the title?
It is a taken from my blog title thisblogneedsatitle.com. I got that title because I had no title for the class assignment when the teacher told us to name our blogs. It was just a joke. Still is.

Can you tell us about your next book?
Hopefully it is This Book Needs A Title Volume #2.

If you were stranded in an island, which book would you want there?
Probably a how to survive on a stranded island book.

Remembering the Fallen: Memorial Day 2013

Land of the free because of the brave.  Thank you for your courage and sacrifice.  We honor you today.

Reminder to Nominate a Real Life Heroine

This is worth a re-post (original here) because there's a special lady out there that is so deserving of this and that person might me you or someone you know so feel free to nominate and spread the news!

Each year, the Harlequin More Than Words award is given to three women who have worked hard to change people’s lives for the better. Inspired by their accomplishments, Harlequin donates $15,000 to each winner's charity of choice and then pairs each winner with a bestselling Harlequin author who turns her story into a novella that's released to the public as a free e-book.

Nominations for the 2014 awards have just opened and will be open until August 9th. To nominate someone you know who is making a difference in the world, or to nominate yourself, you need to submit a few sentences on the nominee, the charity she's involved in, what inspires her and how she's inspiring others. The nomination form is available HERE:

After the nominations are closed in August, the entrants are narrowed down to 5 finalists and the public votes for 3 winners (in November). Then, winners are announced in December, and honored through the $15,000 donation, the novella written about them and feature coverage on Harlequin's site! (http://www.harlequinmorethanwords.com/). It's a great program to honor all of the women who spend their time and energy doing things for others and might not be getting the recognition they deserve!

As a bonus, you can check out the 3 ebooks about the 2012 winners - available for FREE!

The books are:

- Good Neighbors by Sheila Roberts (inspired by Sally Spencer, who manages a mentoring program that rescues at-risk children)
- Just Joe by Carla Cassidy (inspired by Helen McGovern, who oversees Emergency Food Network, a food bank that serves all county residents, including those with health restrictions)
- Light This Candle by Cindy Dees (inspired by Mindy Atwood, who runs Patches of Light, a nonprofit organization where anonymous angels pay the rent for parents of desperately ill children)

Download them for free from Harlequin HERE.

Attention Indie Authors

Author Rachel Morgan is launching (oops, the launch week ended a couple of days ago but still worth a shout out) business that offers digital helps to indie authors.  Read a testimony by one of her customers, Kittie Howard, here.

Morgan Media is a small business offering quality services to indie authors at affordable rates.

"I'm an indie author, and it's taken me many, many, MANY hours of work to figure out how to navigate every step from finished manuscript to published work. There's the ebook formatting and the print book formatting and the ebook cover design and the print book cover design. Then comes the marketing--of both yourself and your book--and for that you need blog tour buttons and blog headers and Facebook fan page cover images and artwork for bookmarks and button badges and postcards and whatever else you might want to give away as part of your book launch. All of this takes a spectacular amount of time that you probably don't have, especially if you're busy promoting one book and trying to write the next one. So why not get someone experienced to take care of most of these steps for you? That's what Morgan Media is for."

Book Loot Giddy 5/17 - 5/24

I requested 8 books from NetGalley this month and the final 4 finally came in, approved.  Yay!  That's 7 out of 8 approved ..the one denied was because it was available to U.K. only (duh me, I got too excited about the book, The Elite, that I didn't read the details).  Anywho, here's my batch of book loot.

How about you?  What goodies came in your way?
